A life changing experience can take place in the context of service to others in a cross cultural context. A number of local churches and youth groups regularly plan short-term summer missions trips to explore or assist in a variety of needs both in and outside of the United States. Sometimes the best way to connect with a summer missions trip is by directly networking with friends in other churches that may include such plans. Students networking with other students will often alert families to opportunities for short term mission trips. Families and churches that support specific mission organizations will find those mission agencies have short term summer opportunities available. Listed below are links to non-denominational agencies committed to providing youth with opportunities to serve in a missions context. |
The links listed below represent enrichment opportunities that have been provided to the Cumberland Christian School Guidance Office. Selecting the particular link will either provide access to the most recent PDF copy of the information or connect directly to the program web site.
Paper copies of materials are available at the CCS Guidance Office for use by students and parents. CCS students interested in programs requiring a nomination should speak to the Guidance Department for additional information.
Each year Cumberland Christian School receives information from a number of colleges and educational organizations offering students the opportunity to go beyond the traditional classroom and beyond the traditional summer vacation. Families may find valuable opportunities for the enrichment of individual students as they explore their interest in a setting that may be outside the normal experience of a family.
The nature of these programs are educational and attempt to expand a student's experience using the opportunity of focusing attention on specific interests in ways that often combine new learning experiences with an entertaining summer format. The quality and cost of these programs will vary from organization to organization. Students and parents must investigate carefully each opportunity to determine if this opportunity meets the family needs and expectations.
Students who choose to participate in such programs may have the successful participation in the program noted on the school transcript.
Cumberland Christian School does not endorse the programs listed on this page or any other specific program. This information is offered to Cumberland Christian School families as a service to the school community.
