How can I contact Mrs. Visconti?
Mrs. Visconti desires to be available to speak with you. There are several ways that you may set up a phone or an office appointment:
1. Call the Elementary Office and speak with her secretary, Mrs. Kathy Ploucher, at 856-6961600 Ext. 323.
2. Stop by the Elementary Office and speak with Mrs. Visconti.
3. Send an e-mail directly to Mrs. Visconti: lvisconti@cccrusader.org
How can I get school work for my child when he is absent?
In the School Handbook, it states that a 24-hour advance notice is normally required to enable the teacher to get such work (missed homework) ready. The teacher may be able to get some or all of the work sooner than this, but may need the 24-hour notice.
Please call the Elementary Office to request work and a message will be relayed to the teacher. When possible, please identify who will be picking up the work, especially if it is a sibling or another student.
Am I satisfied with the amount of homework that is expected of my child?
Too much? There is no one answer to this question. The answer depends on the age of your child, the grade level of your child, and your child. A basic "rule of thumb" is that when a student has all of his supplies at hand and is doing concentrated work without interruptions, he should not need more than 30 minutes in grades K-2 and 1 hour in grades 3-5. If your child exceeds this amount of time on a regular basis (two or more nights a week), please contact your child's teacher.
Too little? Again, there is no one answer. Please realize that while written homework may be beneficial, it is not always necessary. Sometimes student says that he has no homework, even though he has to memorize a Scripture Mastery verse, study for a test, work on a project, or read an Independent Reading book. Please keep aware of these items by reading and posting the parent newsletters which teachers send home. Scheduling a specific time in the evening, when the sole activity in the household is learning, is the best way to help your child develop good study habits . . . even when your child thinks he has nothing to do.
What are the Standardized Dress guidelines?
Our school has adopted a "standardized dress" program that allows for options in student wardrobe but requires students to wear clothes that are part of standardized dress.
All clothing listed on the standardized dress order forms may be purchased from ROSE UNIFORMS if the student is in the appropriate grade level. Other stores may carry similar clothing, but only items IDENTICAL to the items on the Rose Uniforms order form are permitted. The STYLE, COLOR, and MATERIAL must all be IDENTICAL to those provided by Rose Uniforms.
What do I do if my child is late to school?
Your child is tardy if he is not in class by 8:45 am. If he is tardy, your child must "sign in" at the Elementary Office to get a late pass for entrance to class. If the reason for being tardy is due to a late bus, it will be excused. Other reasons should be explained in a note to Mrs. Ploucher or you may tell her when you sign your child in.
What happens if my child forgets his lunch?
Your child's teacher will send a note to the office and Mrs. Ploucher will contact you. You will need to arrange for a lunch to be brought to your child. Please remember that we have Chicken Nuggets on Wednesday and Papa John's Pizza on Thursday. (Because these lunches need to be purchased a day ahead of time, there are no extras on hand.)
How do I arrange for occassional transportation changes for my child?
When your child goes home a different way than usual (bus or car or with a different person), please send in a note or call Mrs. Ploucher (ext.323). We need this note/phone call as parental permission. Do not have students "tell" the teacher the information. Sometimes a child is not sure of the arrangements or does not communciate them correctly, so we depend on the written or oral communication from you.
How many parents may attend a class field trip?
Field trips are an important part of the curriculum that expands the teaching/learning process. Safety is a key consideration during a class field trip. Parent chaperones are a vital aspect of safety. The number of chaperones chosen is designed to provide for optimum small groups. Teachers then assign a chaperone to each group.
To maintain safe communication and organization, only designated chaperones may attend a class field trip. Also, parents may not drive to a field trip and join it.
The above guidelines are given to assure a safe, meaningful learning experience for your child. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
What is Bank Day?
Elemenatary Bank Day is held once a month. Students are given "Building Banks" for the purpose of saving coins throughout the month. On a specified day (usually a Wednesday), students are encouraged to bring the banks to school. All money that is collected goes toward "Building Projects." For example, money from Building Banks was used toward specific items when we built Stratton Hall. Every class that has 90% of the students bringing in banks (which contain $1.00 or more) is considered a winner. Every student who brings his bank on "Bank Day" is allowed to wear jeans on that day. Please note: Standardized Dress shirts must be worn.
