After a written application is submitted for each child, an interview is set up with the school administration. During the interview, parents are taken on a tour of the school, shown curriculum materials, and various aspects of the program are explained more fully.  Please note:  a $110 Application Fee is due at the time of application.  This fee covers ALL students in the same family.

Applications are then acted upon by an Admission Committee. In accepting a student for admission to CCS, the admission committee will consider and evaluate to the best of their ability such things as family cooperation, Christian dedication, church involvement, student cooperation, student academic performance and the reason for wishing to attend CCS. Each family will be notified by letter of the Admission Committee’s decision.

Nondiscriminatory Policy for Admissions

Cumberland Christian School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, scholarship and loan programs and athletic and other school administered programs.

The following describes some of the school admissions policies and procedures:

Registration Fee

A non-refundable registration fee is required of each student each year.

Health Records

All new students must have a recent physical examination by licensed physician and the state required immunizations.

Age Requirements

All children for kindergarten must be 4 years old on or before November 1 for admission into our K4 program and must be 5 years old on or before November 1 in order to enter the all-day kindergarten. Birth certificates must be presented.

Spiritual Requirements

Students from all Protestant denominations are admitted but at least one parent must be a “born again” Christian (John 3:3) in agreement with the school Statement of Faith, of an evangelical persuasion, and active in such a church with the child. In grades 9 and above special consideration is given to the student’s own testimony. Pastoral reference forms will also be required from your pastor.

 Family

Admission to the school is a family commitment. Students must reside with a parent or legal guardian who meets school admission policies. Each family must agree to support school standards.

Academic and Behavioral Standards

Students must exhibit the ability to do regular schoolwork on grade level and to respond to correction and moral teaching. Children with severe academic, emotional, or disciplinary problems cannot be accepted. All new students are placed on an 8-week non-restrictive probation. The family and the child must be willing to work cooperatively toward the goals of the school to continue to be enrolled in the school.

Transfer Students

Transfer students are tested by means of a nationally recognized test before a student begins classes. A transcript of previous schoolwork is required and grade placement is made at the discretion of the principal.

Enrollment

To continue to be enrolled, a student must exhibit normal academic ability, satisfactory academic achievement, emotional stability, positive social behavior, good moral character and willing cooperation with teachers and administration. The parents must continue to cooperate with school staff in the training and must continue active involvement in their own church. Regular attendance at PTF meetings and parent-teacher conferences are examples of family support and cooperation. Enrollment at CCS, as in any private school, is a privilege that involves mutual responsibilities and cooperation.
