Preparing for College Entrance Testing

Colleges use a variety of tools in the process of admitting students.  Among the tools regularly used are the SAT or ACT tests provided by non-profit organizations like the CollegeBoard or ACT.  These organizations design and administer tests on different dates throughout the academic year at local public high schools.  Information concerning date, registration, and prepration options are available on this page.

Cumberland Christian School students should note the following general items:

  • Our school CEEB code for all CollegeBoard and ACT testing records is 311557.  This number should be supplied when registering or completing other forms to ensure proper communication of results to the school.

  • All students working on the College Prepratory or Honors Diploma are required to take the SAT.  Beginning with the Class of 2013, the ACT will also be required of College Prepratory and Honors Diploma students.

  • Beginning with the Class of 2013, all high school students are required to complete the ACT at the end of the junior year or during the senior year regardless of diploma program.

  • All juniors at Cumberland Christian School are required to take the PSAT/NMSQT in October.  Sophomores may decide to participate in the PSAT/NMSQT at Cumberland Christian.  For more information on the PSAT/NMSQT click here.

  • It is recommended by the high school guidance office and college admission professionals that the best time for students to take the SAT is during the spring of the junior school year.
