The Admissions Process

Prior to submitting an application, parents may wish to tour the school and meet with the Director of Admissions, Allie Hider, to gain more insight into CCS. After an online application is submitted for each child, a final interview will be scheduled with the Head of School. All prospective middle and high school students are required to attend the final interview.

Please note: an application fee is due at the time of application.  This fee covers ALL students in the same family.

After the final interview the student's file will go before the admissions committee. Applications are then acted upon by an admissions committee. In accepting a student for admission to CCS, the admissions committee will consider and evaluate to the best of their ability things such as family cooperation, student cooperation, student academic performance and the reason for wishing to attend CCS. Each family will be notified by letter of the admissions committee’s decision.

Nondiscriminatory Policy for Admissions

Cumberland Christian School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, scholarship and loan programs and athletic and other school-administered programs.

Re-Enrollment

Parents/Guardians understand and agree that the enrollment agreement extends until the graduation of the student from CCS or the termination of this agreement as provided herein. Accordingly, the term of this agreement shall renew automatically for each successive academic year until graduation from CCS unless and until this agreement is terminated by CCS or written notice of termination from parent/guardian is received in the CCS Business Office on or before February 28, of each year. Simply stated, if a student will not be returning the following school year, the parent/guardian must complete a CCS student withdrawal form for the following year by February 28 of the current school year.  The parent/guardian acknowledges that the tuition and fees charged for the academic year are for a place within CCS and not for a period of attendance and that the absence of a student during that academic year does not materially reduce the expenses of CCS.  The parent/guardian agrees that the absence, academic failure, or withdrawal of the student during the academic year shall not excuse, alter, abate, or nullify the parent’s/guardian’s obligations for tuition and certain other charges and fees through the academic year.

Health Records

All new students must have a recent physical examination by a licensed physician and the state required immunizations.

Age Requirements

Children must be 3 years old on or before October 1 for admission into our Pre-K3 program, 4 years old on or before October 1 for admission into our Pre-K4 program, and 5 years old on or before October 1 in order to enter the all-day kindergarten. Birth certificates must be presented.

Family Involvement

Admission to the school is a family commitment. Students must reside with a parent or legal guardian who meets school admission policies. Each family must agree to support school standards.

Academic and Behavioral Standards

Students must exhibit the ability to do regular schoolwork on grade level and to respond to correction and moral teaching. Children with severe academic, emotional, or disciplinary problems cannot be accepted. All new students are placed on an 9-week non-restrictive probation. The family and the child must be willing to work cooperatively toward the goals of the school to continue to be enrolled in the school.

Transfer Students

Transfer students are tested by means of a nationally recognized test before a student begins classes. A transcript of previous schoolwork is required and grade placement is made at the discretion of the principal.

Continuing Enrollment

To continue to be enrolled, a student must exhibit normal academic ability, satisfactory academic achievement, emotional stability, positive social behavior, good moral character and willing cooperation with teachers and administration. The parents must continue to cooperate with school staff in the training. Regular attendance at association meetings and parent-teacher conferences are examples of family support and cooperation. Enrollment at CCS, as in any private school, is a privilege that involves mutual responsibilities and cooperation.
