Helping make Christian education affordable for all families
Tuition Assistance Services available at Cumberland Christian School include:
Tuition Assistance Grant
Tuition Assistance grants are awards given to school families based upon need. They are not a loan. Applicants must apply to the Financial Aid for School Tuition (FAST) service for an evaluation of the family’s finances. A copy of the latest tax return is required. FAST reviews the family finances and makes a recommendation to the CCS Financial Aid Committee. To apply, click on the FAST logo to the right. Returning families should apply by April 15. The earlier families apply, the better the chance that funds will be available. Awards are made by CCS around June 15. Tuition Assistance is awarded following the completion of the application process.
CCS will offer one scholarship based on academic acumen and Christian testimony for students in grades six (6) to twelve (12). It will be awarded on the basis of a student’s performance in his/her last school (report card grades), the results of standardized testing, an essay explaining why he/she wants to attend CCS, interview and a letter of reference from their pastor or youth leader. The scholarship will be worth 50% off tuition for the duration of the student’s CCS career. The student will need to demonstrate exemplary behavior and achieve a cumulative yearly average of 92% or better in order to receive and/or retain the scholarship.
Christian School Discount
Cumberland Christian School will provide up to a 10% discount to families that have children in another evangelical Christian school. This discount, however, must be matched by the other school. Any amount of discount may be matched up to 10%. This means that if both schools give a 10% discount, the family could receive an overall 20% reduction.
Church/School Matching Scholarship
When churches provide scholarship assistance to families, CCS will match the amount of the church scholarship up to $250 per family. This match would result in a tuition reduction of up to $500 per year. This program is bound by certain provisions from the IRS.
Family Tradition Scholarship
Cumberland Christian School will provide a $1,000 Family Tradition Scholarship to any CCS alumni who apply to enroll their children at CCS as full-time students. The $1,000 scholarship is per family not for each child. The application fee for alumni enrolling their child(ren) in Cumberland Christian School will be waived as well.
Fine Arts Scholarship
CCS will offer one scholarship based on academic ability, fine arts acumen, and Christian testimony for students in grades 6-12. It will be awarded on the basis of a student’s performance in his/her last school (report card grades), the results of standardized testing, a detailed history of at least participation in two fine arts group activities, an essay explaining why he/she wants to attend CCS, interview, and a letter of reference from their pastor or youth leader. The scholarship will be worth 50% off tuition for the duration of the student’s CCS career.
Next Step Scholarship
Any new family applying to CCS, accepted for enrollment before and including August 15, and having attended another Christian school the preceding year prior to coming to CCS, will pay the same rate they paid at the other school if it is less than the cost to attend CCS.
In recognition of the importance of pastors in the work of the Kingdom, CCS makes special tuition assistance available to them. All ordained or licensed pastors currently serving full-time in a church receive a 30% discount on their child's tuition.
Area pastors may pass along a $1,000 per family scholarship certificate to families active in their church and who do not have students enrolled at CCS. This scholarship is only for full-time, new families applying for admission to CCS.
Cumberland Christian School will provide a $1,000 tuition offset to current CCS families who are responsible for a new family applying to the school before and including June 30, and accepted for enrollment before and including August 15. The CCS families are asked to recruit, encourage, and assist full-time new students with admission to CCS. The tuition offset is only awarded to a currently-enrolled CCS family who influences a non-CCS new family to apply for admission to Cumberland Christian School before and including June 30. A CCS family will receive the $1,000 ($100/month for a total of 10 months) tuition offset for each new family that applies before and including June 30.
Cumberland Christian School will provide a $1,000 scholarship to any present or former member of the military who applies for their child(ren) to be enrolled at CCS as a full-time student before and including July 30, and accepted for enrollment before and including August 15. The application fee for military veterans enrolling their child(ren) in Cumberland Christian School will be waived as well.
In the work scholarship, a portion of the tuition can be paid by working for the school. This work is normally done on scheduled school Parent Work Days. The work scholarship is approved and awarded in the same manner and by the same time deadlines as a tuition assistance grant. While the application is kept confidential, because of work being done, it is not possible to maintain complete confidentiality. In the work scholarship program, we expect your paycheck to be used to pay tuition.
Maintenance Work Fee Waiver
The $300 per family Maintenance Work Fee charged each year by CCS will be waived when a parent works 8 hours on one of the scheduled Parent Work Days (two parents may work 4 hours each to earn the waiver). This Maintenance Work Fee helps fund major facility upgrades and repairs (heating system, flooring, etc).
A 3% discount is given to any family that pays the tuition in full for the coming school year before July 1. In addition, a family can “lock in” current tuition rates by paying for future years. This is possible when a full year of tuition is received at least 12 months in advance of the start of that school year. There is no limit to the number of years that can be paid in advance and the tuition is computed at the current year’s rate.
CCS is committed to helping you lay the foundation of Christian education. Please let us know how we can assist you!
